Sound dampening doors

Andrew,

The "little nubbies" are still available from Toyota.

Re cost, I've been collecting info on noise abatement for a year or so now, and the cost partly depends on how extensively you do it. (Cost also depends on what product you use.) You can do two layers on the doors (outer skin and inner), floor, cargo area, firewall, hood, roof. Some people use two different products on the floor to maximise the noise supression. I've heard that doing the doors is the single biggest improvement. This could cost $100 - 300, depending on what product, and whether you do just one side or both.

I still have a few more mechanical things to fix first, but then my strategy will be to do it really well, but in parts. I'll start with the doors (and do both the inside and out). Then move to the floor, etc. I'll spread it out as funds (and time) allow.

Cheapest product is reflectex, available at Home Depot and similar. Dynamat seems to be the most expensive. I did a quick and dirty job w/reflectex on my floor and hood. It made a difference, but in hindsight I should have used a better product.

Hope this helps.
