sorry folks, but i've got the dumb tire question of the day...and yes, i've searched, but no i haven't found the answer that i'm looking for.
so it's time for tires, i've got 33x9.5's on a 91 minitruck with ifs still intact. she's got 4.88 gears, detroit locker and a truetrac in the front, fenders have been minimized by ~1.5" all around, as well the front body seams have been beaten in with a hamma. 22re, 5spd, slight lift, i didn't install, but has skyjacker nytro 8000's, bj spacers, modded bump stops, and the torsion bar has been cranked up (set of tires the kid had on it ate themselves the first time i went on the highway.) i've had the toe issue corrected, so that i don't blow any more $$ on shoes.
now the question....33's or 35's?
it's super tippy, so i would think wider is better...but am i just going to break the ifs off of the truck? i don't mind if this happens, just don't want to deal with it on the trail....feedback would be appretiated.
thanks
doug

I'm a big fan of tall, skinny tires. My 2nd gen 4runner with 235/85/16s on Tundra steelies may not be fast but I get 25mpg on the highway.

i have 33x10.5x15 (bfg mud)and they're great. 35's and ifs don't mix too well. if it's too tippy try a different offset wheel for a little wider stance.

i've bugged every toyota freak in my home county...that seems to be the consensus...got got some wagon wheels that should widen it out a bit. thanks for the input.

FWIW, the bfg all terrain 33 x 10.50 actually measures 32.7" in diameter (from their website)
couple that with 4.88 gears that you have and the final drive ratio will be almost perfectly back to stock.

and they fit on stock 15x7 rims

i just swapped 4.88s in mine and thats the way im goin too.
just got to get my oem alloys powder coated.

so i had a statey radar me on the highway yesterday, 4.88's with 33's, and she said 47-48 when my speedo read 50...told me that it was closer than most stockers...so there's your reputable gear/tire speedo setup
