Happy Holidays everyone! 🎅

I’m wondering the minimum clearnace required for my headers I just installed… things are looking tight in relation to the header and oil pan….
my SOR two piece header is in , have yet to put the actual exhaust on yet benches I noticed a clearance issue with the header and the oil pan.

I this is what I did:
put up “shims” in the form feeler gauges as I torqued everything down To keep the header from bumping against the pan. Hoping to tape them there and drive over to the exhaust shop. Trying to do this tomorrow.

I did some cutting of the pan already. Too.

I’m wondering,

How did I do?pictured is a 6mm shim between the pan and the header and a 3mm shim between the two headers. Chat GPT said 5 mm minimum between pan and header. The shims wiggle a bit so my hope is once I remove them they won’t go back. That is my main question though. If I keep them there and bolt /weld the y pipe and exhaust on, Will the 6mm gap stay there upon driving it? ?

basically, has anyone dealt with this before and will my plan work or will it all just shift back into place once I remove the shims.

I have out in New side motor mounts, rear mount is original from 1985, 240k miles ago. In case anyone is wondering, I know that technically could be causing a problem.
This is a fresh engine.

I do not want to remove anything. It’s been torqued to 23 ft/lbs.
Hoping to mount the y pipe and that will secure everything.

Best,
Dan
