appears as though the seal between the firwall and the pushrod or whatever from the pedal gave out, cuas ei have a puddle of brake fluid on my floor under the pedals. there is no fluid leaking from anywhere else. is there a seal in there that goes bad?
needless to say it was interesting getting it home.....but i made it.
anyways, i gotta start the mad search for a master that will fit my 67....are there any other years i cna look for or do i have to stick with that certain vintage. if anyone has one that they know i cna use portland oregon area preferred as i need it asap!!) let me know.
time to do some searching!@

i think that you can use just about any of them, with some modifications

the biggest bein the number of bolts thru the firewall.

i got mine from the dealer and it wasn't that bad even though it was off a year or two. just had to bend the hardline a little bit

good luck, and it's not a hard fix at all

I got one from Cool cruisers they had a sale I think it $45 easy fix few bolts and bleed it and you'll be back wheelin!

is it metal or plastic toped? (67 is plastic I think)

I would try toyota 1st, then a good brake supply shop.

yep the seal went.

if you want one that will directly replace yours (and you're unsure of PO mods, ha ha)
the two big things are possibly different are the number of bolts holes and the location of the hardline & reservoir on the body of the cylinder.

i got one for my 72 and either the dealer got the wrong one or a PO had put a different one in at some time, so my reservoir and hardline hookup were flip-flopped.

no big deal, just took a little bit of time

toyota wants 123 bucks....so im sort of lookign elsewhere.
my clutch master in tehre righ tnow has 3 bolts.....anyone know if that is the stock one cause there are holes all over that firewall...i assume there has been a variety of master cylinders in there both brake and clutch so i dunno.
anything else besides a regular fj40 clutch that will work without too much hassle? i want to fix this as soona s possible, but i gotta find a replacement first.

yeah, try napa also, i remember bailey sayin that you could pick one up there pretty cheap, even though it's not OEM

well....pulled the master today....got to playing around with it a bit today...cleaned it out...lots of gunk.
anywho, i see that the rubber cap at the very end wher ethe ram goes in isnt exactly a tight fit....but i doubt it actualyl does much in terms of keeping the fluid inside....more of a dustcap id imagine....but when i was running fluid thru it in the test run, i noticed i did get some minor seepage thru the cap right below the lock ring....is that normal or is that a sign i need new internals? it still pushed sluid out the proper hole like crazy, but that minor fluid leak has me wondering if it is a normal thing or not.
spector appears to be the only place i can find specifically what i need (rebuild kit wise) most of the autodroid stores ive called dont even list anything for my purpose so im sol there
tge thing has never leaked, at least not noticabally....does brake fluid expand when it gets really hot?cause this all started when the temps got over 100 degrees..

iif its leaking out the back(firewall side) thats your problem. But just a tiny drip should not make the pedal go to the floor, many masters leak a TINY bit.........really only noticable and problem is that it eats the paint off the firewall(inside)

Try Southside Brake and Clutch in Tacoma WA(I have number someplace or google it), they will ship, bet it cost $40-50 for a GOOD reman master, they dont sell junk. I personaly would not rebuild yours......never heard anyone that is happy(for long) rebuild there master.

in Portland there MUST be a a few brake shops, don't bother with autoparts stores, find the place all the repair shops use to get there parts, they all sell to the pubic and have great stuff and good prices

thank pimp, i will try finding a place local. i cant find your place on google though so if you come across the number feel free to pass it on. id like to have this thing running by the end of the week so i need to place an order somewhere monday morning.
