At this point I'm thinking that there are cargo trucks in my country that also operate on a 24 volt starter. I'm going to visit some shops that sell them parts and see if I can't find a proper relay there.

I actually feel rather silly for trying to do my own rather than just going to a man who earns his living that way, especially as labor is very cheap in my country and a lot of very good people here are grossly underpaid and therefore very affordable.

The offending relay was located in what was formerly the driver's side and is now the passenger's side. My LC was converted from the Japanese and English way of driving to the USA way. The steering is now on the left side of the vehicle. The conversion proved to be good in my LC's case. I've lost none of the steering and none of the fuel feed for acceleration.

I'm waiting for Drexx, one of the posters on this board, to get his newly aquired LC80 to be ready for the road and at that point I'll be able to do a comparison with a gas model. The only other cruiser I've traveled with was also a 1HD-T but a year younger than mine. I'm really very satisfied with mine as it has tremendous pulling power and very good acceleration. More power than I'm willing to use so far. I'm still at odds with the CDL set to high. Low is good but I have trouble distinguishing if high is doing anything for me. I tried both on a hill with my right front wheel in a 2 foot deep ditch but the LC just came out of the ditch with very little fuss, so I learned nothing and didn't dare deeper ditches what with being far from home, spare parts and mechanics.

The 1HD-T is apparently fairly economical. with 33" tires and a 4.11 gear I get 8 kilometers per liter on the highway. I got the same mileage when I was driving with 35" tires. In the city with stop and go, I estimate something in the area of 5 or 6 per liter. It might be worse than that but I'm uncertain. It's also as fast as I dare drive and won't be left by ordinary cars on the highway unless you force it to. My engine blows a dark cloud under heavy acceleration, but the other LC doesn't. I think I'll be due to purchase new injectors in the near future, but the power right now is very good and there's no smoke in normal drive.

Overall I'm reasonably satisfied with my 1HD-T. It's a good feel to drive such a very big car and not burn a whole lot of fuel in the process.
