Hi-Steer Arms

Hi,

You can get a pair of CNC Machined Billet Chromoly Steel Toyota Steering Arms from BigRocks Off Road (www.bigrocksoffroad.com) for about $210.

I put them on my FJ62 when we did the spring over.

We also eliminated the tie rod ends with the springs in them and used FJ80 tie rod ends. Really helped the steering a lot!

Good luck.

Hi Guys!

Thanks a lot for your replies! Well, i've seen another option, cut the steering arms, and reweld them at another angle! What do you think about that, real dangerous?

Best regards.

Max.

DONT screw around with steering components!!!

Either wait till you can afford them or dont do the SOA!

You're playing with fire doing what you're talking about!

heating the metal will kill its strength. good welder or not, still run the chance of breaking it. i love to rig stuff, but not the best thing to rig. buy a set of arms and be done with it.

I'm a new set of arms for my rig. I was just evaluating the options. Wait, is the knucle a tempered piece?

Hey guys!

Don't get all cranky about this, don't worry, i'll be fully documented before i step ahead into the SOA!

Tapage, what are your steering arms?

Mark, how much pinching can i get by with on the front axle, you know if i don't cut and turn, , and angle the diff nose let say three to five degrees up, to be easier on the cardans, the vertical axle of the knuckles won't be vertical anymore, and will give a slight pinching on the tyres when turning! I thought that actualy could give the HJ61 an slightly better bite on the front wheels when turning!

Well, i just had to look what was a double knuckle arm on the web, the lower rod can stay where it is when if i find a way to have the top rod conected higher to clear the springs!

By the way, i'm pretty sure i can make one of thoses, even stronger if i want!

Cruisers have minimal caster angle in the first place. You really can not turn the complete axle assembly at all and have it work out right. It will dart and wander and be very scary on the road if you do this.

BTW, the double knuckle arm you have in the picture appears to be one for a mini-truck (hilux) the profile is different, the boss at the tierod is larger and the drop/lift of the arm is greater.
