So, how do I mod to get a 1979 Camaro steering wheel to fit?

1976 pig. 1979'ish Camaro steering wheel with tilt.

I wanna get both to mate up, then convert to power steering (I have a small Toyo truck pump set-up I bought on Flee-Bay.)

Of course I will also want to use the switches and such on the new steering wheel and delete same from dashboard.

Anything unique to the FJ-55 I need to know about?

Any pictures?

Thanks.

Getting a GM steering column to fit and have everything work is a big topic.

Mounting the column to the dash and to the firewall can be a lot of fabrication in itself. Getting the column to work with your steering box depends on a lot of factors. The ignition is pretty easy. The lights aren't too bad. The wipers are a giant pain in the ass, but doable.

The easiest way to do it is to use a pre-everything-in-one-switch column with a simple round column and keep as many stock dash switches as possible.

I honestly can't think of a reason to do it in a pig with a mini box conversion. Lots of fab. Little gain. Not gonna look or behave right. Adding in a couple of huge problem areas - the crappy turn signal mechanism inside the column and the Swiss army do everything switch that broke fairly often and always felt cheap.

Did one once in a 40. Would not do it again.
