If I'm not mistaken hi-tide is around 11:30 AM right before noon... Might want to plan accordingly.

So I got a few more question.

Whats the best time to get there friday with a loaded tow/trailer?
Do you have to buy any pass to get inside?

Just putting this out there... maybe PismoJim or others can correct me...

Was planning to arrive Friday around 3pm (water height ~3ft) in hopes that the tide is far enough out to make it down to SNT camp.

Tides for Surf N Turf 2009

High tide is no problem for a LAND CRUISER. You can drive in the soft dry sand with ease.

Motor homes, camp trailers, etc. benefit from the hard pack.

Everyone, anytime, should check it out and make a decision. If the tide looks too high for your taste, relax and wait a bit. It will change. There are no rules.

The beach changes every day. I just got back from a "scouting" run and ill post some pictures to make you drool.

Oh yeah, anything under 6.0 isn't really that high. (depending on the swell height...)

BEACH PRE_RUN 10/28/09...

On the way to the beach...

Driving down Grand Ave to the beach I spotted what looked like Brian aka "Sully" and his DIY roof top tent, complete with porch light. I looks like a Volvo with a cruiser motor, something Sully would easily take trough the Rubicon. I could even see a little rock rash.

I finally got down to the beach today and future site of the Surf N Turf main camp.

Boy, it was lonely out there.

Everything looks great, the only thing missing are about 500+ Land Cruisers.

Pole 6

From the first line of dunes, if you look close, Pole 6 appears at the water line middle of picture, bathrooms on the right.

Three miles of this as I head back to the Pier Ave ramp.

Thanks for the scouting pics and tide info! Less "schedule" to worry about when we can come in to go have fun is always more relaxing!

So to get this correct. The best time would be around noon ish (11:00) am?

It would be more accurate to say that you are more likely to drive through water at the creek crossing at high tide. So if you want to be sure to get wet, show up at high tide.

A couple days ago it wasn't so lonely,

I spotted a cute girl... in a cute FJ40....

You should have gotten her number!:p

Looking forward to my wife driving my 80 and showing it off as well.

Believe me, she already has MY number. :D

Sethzilla bringing his wife to Surf N Turf, who would would have predicted that?

Hmmm, maybe Miklos and his wife, Evelyn.

The Surf N Turf family keeps growing!

Next year we'll likely have skull and sticker covered baby carriage races.

Great Pictures Jim, I am ready to call in sick the rest of the week and leave tommorow. This year we are bringing my sister in law and my Niece and her husband , ( They will be driving my 40 ) William and his buddies might be driving up Friday night or Saturday. Thanks Jim and Katherine for making this happen.

what? Mickey and Seth are married....? who would have thought...? :D

I'm still waiting for a really high and really cold water crossing, so we can show these 40 guys with no doors what 80s are best at... serious wheeling in water-resistant luxury... :)

I with you on this one, I think I'll start loading up tonight.

Mid-week is awesome this time of the year.

(Which is why Thursday is the new Friday at Surf N Turf.)

And, why I'll be there on Wednesday. ;)
