I am trying to find the Toyota part number for the snorkel head pictured below.

A price and a location of where one could be bought would also be great if possible

One more question is does anybody know if the factory snorkel is made by safari snorkel for Toyota.

This is the number for aussie models 17730 66010
Ive never seen any indication the snorkles are a Safari product ,but the earlier styles used the Safari snorkle head.
Donaldson Filtration sell prefilters similar to yours

Ok I'm a little confused b/c i have gotten to different numbers for the same part.

I am talking about the top/hat /cap the thing on the top pf the tube attached to the truck.

I believe that part number 17730-17020 is the one pictured below on the maroon land cruiser.

Why dont you make it a little easier and tell us where you are? Part # can vary from country to country

The part # I gave you is for pre cleaner assembly for a 07 VDJ76 ,aust spec,as pictured above
The one on the maroon 80 series looks like it came off a 105 series
If you re in oz ,just go to the dealer ,they dont need a part #,just a VIN

sorry for not giving more detail, I am in the US and want to use this top rather than the ram style one that my safari snorkel brought.

I am also going out on a limb and assuming that the tube size is close enough to use the Toyota top.

Since you have a lot more exposure to this top do you know if it will fit on a safari snorkel tube ?

No idea. You would have know the diameter of yours for comparison but I think it would be close.

When I ripped the OEM cap off on some trees I used a spare Safari RAM type till I got a new OEM cap in. I am traveling, and don't have access to my old e-mails to check for the correct part number but this I know:

1) EPC shows two numbers which look like the same cap. One is metal, and is way too small...I know.

2) The OEM cap base is wider then the Safari RAM top. I went to a muffler shop and had a short bit of aluminized pipe flared out so I could run the RAM top. There was enough difference between the OEM snorkle body (larger) and Safari RAM (smaller) the muffler shop was loath to expand the base as large as I needed, so one or two wraps of duct tape made up the difference, then clamps at both ends. There was only about 1/4" of metal showing when done.

3) When I got the replacement OEM cap I did not clamp it on as tight, so it will not rip apart when I am in thicker trees. I've yet to attach the cap to the top mounting bracket on the windshield with some wire so the cap stays with the truck.

If I gave you the diameter of the safari snorkel would you have a way to check the Toyota one?

Try me. Depends on if there is one at the local dealer I can measure. I can probably also reaffirm the part #
I think Greg has probably nailed it as I remember a similar post

I will be measuring my snorkel tonight and posting my findings. The measurements will be of the ID of the head and the OD of the tube. I hope its close enough to where I can use it.

3.5 in = 8.89 cm now I just need confirmation that this is the same dimension the factory 70 series snorkel.

Just need confirmation so I can now move forward on getting one.

One more question does the Toyota top OD drift into the Toyota tube ID or is it vise versa?

I really can't tell form the pics

My guess is that the head would fit over the snorkle tube to make it harder for moisture to enter

I've stuck that cyclonic had on the top of a safari tube. I just used a rubber pipe adapter. The part # is good in the US. It was kinda a getto adapter but works. I'm sure you could come up with something else if needed.

OEM Catalog
Item Number MSRP Core Price Price
1773066010 $98.86 $0.00 $75.13

PRECLEANER ASSY, AIR

Thats good because the part # matches the one I gave;)

What are you putting it on?

Mine is a 3" safari tub iirc. The OEM hat is close... The problem is the oem hat is not meant to slide over the tube like the safari does. There is a clamp that holds both of them and hold it to the widow frame.

IMHO I would not stick the oem hat on the top of a safari snorkel. Either spring for the whole OEM setup or safari. If you have a safari and want a cyclonic filter they sell 2 donaldons that fit and there are a host of other donaldson cyclonic filters that fit too. They fit the safari better than the oem cyclonic hat will.

that's my .02

Edit: there was a pic of my 4o with the safari tube and the oem hat in the other thread. I guess I can put it here too.
