I was actually recommending his shop brand strap. I'll inspect mine and see if I can provide any further source information.
A useful addition to the tests in that article would have been a preliminary physical inspection to see if they could identifiy features that resulted in superior performance. Also retesting at least one brand of strap to see how repeatable the tests were. The variation in strength may be more a function of each individual strap's construction rather than the design/manufacturer/materials used. That said it is by far the most useful test of straps I've seen.
The "Just Straps" website claimed that a newer series of tests was run in the "August 2005 edition of 4WD Monthly magazine". Can anyone who gets the mag ($8 AUD/issue
) fill us in on the results.

We sell ARB and also our own brand that is put together in South Africa. I am looking into some US made ones as well.
We well them and I have also used them. You need to match it to your vehicle. TO big and as you said, you will not get any stretch out of it.

that were featured in the test, which performed better than the ARB
strap, are in fact made on exactly the same production line.
We apologise for any inconvenience this matter may cause our
customers. Rest assured ARB is taking immediate measures to ensure
this unfortunate supply problem is corrected. From September 2003 the
stitching process on ARB snatch straps will be automated, eliminating
the possibility of human error at this stage of the manufacturing
process.
We understand that customers who have purchased straps from us may
have concerns. For this reason, effective immediately, we are
extending the warranty on all ARB snatch straps to five (5) years.
This warranty is retrospective, covering straps already purchased
from us.
In the meantime, ARB will do everything possible to ensure this
exceptional situation is never repeated, and assure you of our
ongoing commitment in striving to offer Australian four wheel drivers
the very best products at a value for money price.
