So somehow I managed to shear one of my rear shocks off; looking at what to get for replacements... Im tossed up between the rancho or one of the Foam style shocks... what seems to be the concenses out there for best options? Im more interested in function and durability than ride comfort.

Also can I cross reference a North American truck for a part that would work on the BJ74?

ya its stock, what would I tell them its for? IE is there a Canadian spec cruiser with the same shocks?

Do you have the EPC? When I replaced my shocks I went in with the part numbers and had them ordered. I believe you could also say you need them for a cdn market BJ70 and they'have those part numbers in their system.

awsome guys, thank just found that out too when x-referencing Rancho shocks... What everyone think about their adjustive RS9000XL supposedly you can turn a little dohicky and make them more or less responsive (or for an extra $150 mount a dash mounted panel to adjust on the fly while driving) Do you guys think its just a bunch of marketing BS or would their be a real benefit to something of the sort?

I've heard that the "dohicky" knobs seize up relatively quick. Sounds like a good idea though if they are reliable.

Marketing bull****. Im using 3 way adjustable RAW 4X4 shocks and I never change the settings.
Changing the air pressure in the tyres is my way of adjusting for comfort.
Even 2-3 psi can make a huge difference

Well thanks Rosco! good to know! I'v been told Bilstein are supposed to be one of the better manufacturers out there; now the interesting thing is if I source shocks from their German site for a BJ74 (IE BJ73) I get one set of part numbers, but if I source from an American supplier for the FJ60 I get totally different numbers.... any idea on what the hell is going on? I thought they were all the same!

Used to have the Rancho 9000's.
Replaced them with Koni Heavy Tracks, also adjustable but then you have to take off one of the ends, fully compress them, feel for a dent and then turn and count.
It's a PITA and I never change the settings anymore.
I miss the Rancho's, there is was only a few clicks away.

I think the Koni shocks will last longer but are more expensive.
