Hi guys, I need some advice here.
The truck is a 81 SR5 4WD 22R. In the recent storms I gave it to a friend, since he desperately needed a pickup to get sandbags.
Now when I drive it it smells like the brakes are sticking. However, neither the calipers, nor the drums or the hubs get hot and the brakes don't seem to be dragging. There are no problems with the clutch either, it is not slipping and when I let the pedal go while pressing the brakes it stalls the engine easily. What's going on?
I have no problem working on this thing, will put on a new brake master and calipers anyway, but I'd really like to know where the smell comes from. Popping in new clutch is no big deal either, but do I even need it?
Maybe he rode the clutch a lot when getting sand from the beach, but why does it keep smelling?
thanks, cheers,
J
