Small Roof Gear Box?

It'd be nice to have a bit more storage space in my LX570 for tools and emergency gear. Nissan Xterra's used to come stock with a small gear box on the roof. Doesn't stick up above the roof cross bars. Has anyone ever seen anything similar for an LC or LX, either commercially available or a DIY build?

Nope, but Trail Tailor has a tailgate lid that would give you something similar space wise. Different location of course.

Really cool idea! It looks like it might also function as a wind baffle.
