Just out of curiosity would anyone lurking on here have a scrap Tecumseh engine that is just sitting around gathering dust I could pick up from you, I just picked up a little gas 2250v 18 amp generator for 16 bucks that was missing an air cleaner.

You could probably make an air cleaner from some Princess Auto surplus? Heck, they probably even have one.
