I was reading a thread on here the other day about CB's and someone mentioned that they believed someone else found a CB small enough to mount in the little slot that seems to serve no purpose to me. I am talking about the slot that some 80 series owners mod into a cup holder.

I have a Uniden 520, but if there is a small CB that will fit in the slot, I may look into getting one.

I searched around in the forums here, but I haven't been able to find anything. I started googling small CB's and found this one.

Small CB

Not sure if that one is 1) legal here 2) available to purchase in the US. Anyone know what CB, if any, will fit in the cupholder slot? I've been contemplating taking my Uniden apart and seeing if I can fab a faceplate that will fit there using the internals.

I know about the ashtray mount (did the same thing in my 4Runner) but thought it'd be cool to have a small CB that fit in the slot.

Thanks for the help.

Apparently they run a different bandwidth for there CB down in Australia where that thing is made. It says 80 channel UHF. Here in the states we run 40 channel HF. I don't think that unit fits the bill, and its expensive too. So far the 520xl is the smallest I have seen. Don't forget you can mount it next to your ebrake on the center console.

I have this one. The box for it sits under your dash or some other hidden place. It's a decent CB. Only thing is no one in Canada uses CBs like the US. So for me not as needed. I also run a VHF commercial type radio to hear all the logging road company frequencies. https://www.cobra.com/products/recreational/c-75-wx-st
