Use the one that goes under the adapter and get rid of the propellor mount.

Georg @ Valley Hybrids

He's got a propeller?!!!...It should really fly.

Seriously, I agree with Georg. that rear mount has been on the market about 30 yrs too many without a complete redesign.
It' responsible for more transfer case damage than bad wheelers on a drinking binge

Went into my garage tonight to get my orion mounted up to my transmission. Got everything in place to then notice that 3 of the 6 studs on the back of my transmission are not long enough...Should have new studs and have my transfer case mounted up tomorrow.

Got the case mounted up today, almost got the crossmember mounted, but turns out I need to weld the brackets to the frame I can't get away with bolting them. Having a big block is very frustrating some times:bang:. So it looks like it might be a little bit before my case is mounted. I can't thank Georg enough for all the help he has given me during this, kudos to him for explaining everything:beer:.

Spent a couple hours today scraping more dynamat out of the tub. This stuff does not come off without a fight. If anyone has ideas on how to remove it I'm open to suggestions.

What harness did you put into your truck mate. I have a 71 model that I am rebuilding and just had a look at their website and they dont list one for a FJ40. Do you remember what it cost you.

I'm running an American Auto Wire Highway 22 kit. I bought it from Iron Pig Offroad for I believe $500. Not specifically tailored to a 40 series, its a pretty general kit but I like it a lot, a lot of people here also run Painless kits.

Spending even more time today trying to get this dynamat off. This stuff does not come off with anything I've tried to use so far. I do not recommend anyone to use this on anything if you ever think you might remove it.

Have you tried a heat gun? It's amazing what a little heat will do.

I've been using a heat gun and all its been doing to the dynamat is making it a lot stickier. It really helped with taking the foil off, but the little bit of tar residue isn't coming off too easily.

Used some rustoleum aircraft remover to remove some of the tar and paint from the tub. I was surprised how good this stuff worked.

Still trying to remove dynamat residue, I probably have 20+ hours in this. I truly cannot express how much I despise removing dynamat.

Finally got most of the dynamat out, found out that a combo lacquer thinner or aircraft remover works really well to remove dynamat. Hopefully by tomorrow all of the residue will be out:bang:. I also have a hardtop for sale in the classifieds, don't really want to sell it but if someone offers me $700 I won't say no.

Bought a new daily driver today after mine being totaled back in February while on vacation. Very happy with it and it's actually really fun to drive

Put new rod ends in the steering tonight, along with swapping out the sleeved 4 inch drop pitman arm for a cj flat arm with the advance adapters conversion drag link.

Finally got my crossmember welded up so this build should start making some serious progress. Still waiting on a new shift rail for my orion. Also built some nice speaker boxes for my 6.5 polk marine certified speakers I picked up.

Got my tub back on and new body mounts on. There's now hole in the tub below the driver door that I need to fix. Gotta love rust...

Anyone have an input on how to go about patching this? cut out just the part and weld new steel or buy a whole replacement rocker from CCOT?

All the dynamat residue and old paint is off, the rust has been dealt with on the inside of my tub(the rocker is still needing attention), and I put down primer on the inside of the tub. Its been a pretty productive week if you ask me.:)

Starting to put the 40 back together, put the entire front clip and wind shield back together tonight. Painted the whole interior black rattle can, I know it should match the body but I don't know the actual color of the tub it's not a Toyota color, and I wanted to get something to protect the tub from more rust until I can afford to get the entire 40 painted one color. I did fix all the rust but I plan on driving it for a while before its off the road again for paint or anything.
