anyone ever have their starter motor mounting bolts vibrate loose? I guess the last installer didn't tighten them down enough. my starter began to spin freely and wouldn't catch the flywheel teeth. I assumed it had spun out. retighened the bolts and she cranked right up.

I have seen it a few times and usually just tightening to the correct torque seems to fix the problem.

I did have to chase a few threads on the bellhousing once and used new bolts. I think some one used some hardware store bolts at one time and may have caused the problem. If it isnt a 10,12,14,17,19mm size bolt head it isnt Toyota and causes problems for me from my experience.

This is my first post on this site so am still figuring out how navigate it. I am new to the site but not to Toyotas.

The starter does have a bit of kick to it if they were not tight to begin with if it happens again check the bolts and maybe add a lock washer and thread sealer (loctite)
