not that lsd.

the 1UZ powered truck is finally about ready to roll now (uzilux?). my mechanic suggested that a posi or LSD rear might be an idea for this unit, as spinning out will become one of its favourite hobbies. upon a teeny bit of research, i'm finding that there is a plethora of LSD units available and i'm not sure where to start: 1 way, 2 way, 1.5 way, 8", 10 bolt, 8 bolt, 30 spline, gear ratio X, gear ratio Y, etc, etc.

differentials certainly aren't my strong suit. it's for a 1994 pickup 2WD, btw. the good news seems to be that they are available used, or NOS, for a pretty reasonable price.

Just get an LSD out of a 7.5" Supra rear end and be done with it. Same carrier and same ring and pinion size as the 2wd trucks.

That, Corax, Corax, to the courtesy phone please? (He's running one and can answer way more that I.)

7.5" refers to the size of the ring gear on the 3rd member. You can't measure it without taking the diff out of the housing. A 2WD truck should have a 7.5 rear diff/axle.

If you post up a picture of the diff, someone should be able to tell whether its a 7.5" or 8" diff.

I'm gonna plow ahead with an 8" LSD for my rear end in my pickup.

Put the whole rear IRS suspension out of an SC400 or a Supra into your truck. The whole thing drops out with 6 bolts.
