We're embarking on our ski vacation in the coming weeks. My wife and I have been using the same ski cloths for the last seven years - pretty much all Columbia Titanium outerwear that were designed to keep warm and dry while out in the snow!

Now that we have two kids (5 and 2), we want to get them some ski cloths to keep them warm and dry and don't break the bank. Keep in mind that we live in Texas and don't really need snow gear as the temperature seldem sees below freezing here. So far they both have the down-filled 3-in-1 jackets with removable liners and gloves. They will need some sort of head gear and pants. Any recommendation on the brands and where to buy them? How about snow shoes? We'll be out all day in the snow either skiing or doing some other activites (dog sled, snowmobile, etc)

As much as I like Columbia gears, they are pretty expensive considering that we will only use them during this trip and the kids will outgrow them in a year.

TIA!

At that age, plan on taking lots of breaks regardless of how good their clothes are - particularly if they don't get out in this stuff much. My kids typically get walmart - as fast as they outgrow it, it's not worthwhile getting anything else. Problem is, they are probably taking that stuff off the shelves already - I saw kids coats on closeout a week or so ago. So you might have trouble finding something there.

My daughter (9) did get a pair of Columbia pants this year. But we got it at a Columbia outlet just S. of Denver that has really good prices - I got a titanium jacket for about $70.

Yes. Walmart jackets for the kids. I order online and delivered directly to the store to save on shipping.

Columbia really has some good stuff, but also costly $$$.
