I'm installing a new clutch master and slave cylinder on my 84 60. After accidentally breaking the hard line and getting some good advice on these forums, I have decided to skip the hard line/soft line route and run a stainless braided flex line in between the master and slave cylinder. I was wondering if anyone on here has done this, and if so, what type and size of fittings did you use to connect the line to the cylinders? What about compression fittings? Any particular size hose to use? Someone recommended a 5/16 inch flex line, does that sound right. I MUST get a FSM soon...Thanks:cool:

Works great.
Get a long length of braided stainless brake line from Sumitt. I found the easiest thing to do was just get the line with the -3AN fittings (make sure you get the swivel ends) and get AN-metric adapters. You will need 10x1.0mm adapters. Very happy with the system, I have been replacing everything on my truck with this, so much easier, I can not believe I ever struggled with those little brake fittings that just rust away.

Edit: check out page 3, post 75 of the thread in my sig line for a pic.

OR, get one of our hoses that was already made for exactly what you are doing. Hose is 23" long, 10mm male and female ends, and we use a copper washer on the slave cylinder end since the female is so deep.

That is an excellent option, looks like a very good product.

But, in the case of a stock 60 the slave is on the opposite side of the bellhousing from the master.
Do you have one that is considerably longer?
And do both your ends have swivel joints?

The option I described was the only one I could piece together that would have swivel joints at each end. This is very important to me since it facilitates removal on either end without having to rotate the entire line.
