isn't there some place in salt lake city that does the cut and turn for you for a good price?
come to think of it, i remember someone saying that they/he/it/them will do the perches, and a number of other things. seemed like it was a good price to me.
maybe i'll search for that thread.

www.Proffittscruisers.com sells cut and turned housings complete with perches, shock mounts and steering stops for $350.

With a spring over (7 inches of lift) and 1.5 from the springs you will get binding when crawling, I wasn't talking about highway driving. The only time my rig sees a highway is from its trailer.

I'm just happy cause now my pumpkin can't dent my erl pan anymore.(i'll have to get some picks of the small dent in it)

i was talking about handling with out a cut~n~turn on the highway and ive never had binding with my u-joints but i also did rotate them up 2 degrees...

slower how did you get 7 inches out of a SO? then you went another 1.5" in a lift spring? you run 46 or 49" tires? did you pull measurements after she broke in.

front u joint bind also matters on the length of the driveshaft, and too many setups to generalize a statement.

cut and turn not needed, with a SR then is strongly recommended but so is wheels on the mounts as your diggin them in.

cali hydra boost? or go manual.

rotate front 2 degress and add longer shackles? what do you have for a caster angle? sounds like you lost it or gone too far.

i thought that 6-8" was standard fair for an SOA.

also, pretty sure that 35-37" tires are what most run with a stockleaf SOA.

38's fit easily on an old flat ass stock leaf SOA.

I measured my front framehorn once on my cruiser (SO and 38.5 sx's at 20 psi) and compared it to my near stocker (2.5" longer shackle and 31's) I was only 8" higher with the 78 than the 72. Of that, at least 4" was in tire alone..

maybe the 6-8" was with tires, i guess

5 to 6 inches on a SOA setup with stock springs...but it also matters how ya do it with the stock springs...i did an add a leaf and 2inch shackels and got a hair under 7inchs when i was done.. but im down to about a 6inch lift after the springs have settled or flattened out..and thats with out tires...by da way :)

I agree ..can't see how you could possibly retain positive caster by doing this. Have you measured the caster?

I haven't measured caster(where should I measure from) but it is't postive.

From the top of the knuckle with the vehicle at rest.

Factory is +1 I believe, correct me if I am wrong.

the next section i miss read what you said, you travel 1.5" then have ujoint bind.
did the 7" SO settle out?

+1 degree caster

I set mine by pinion angle, meaning stock pinion angle without cut and turn gives you stock caster angle when SO.
I believe stock pinion is 2 degrees (been a while, dont use it till degree is confirmed) dont have the tools to measure proper caster at the knuckle, and with 1 degree it is too hard to guessimate,(no setting angle finder across the bolts). SO if you put on about a 2" longer shackle then stock you tip mounting surface of the perch approx 2 degrees (math invovled), but if you welded perches to compensate for the extended shackles your ok.

its the rotating 2 degrees then the mention of longer shackles also that has me wondering what you have for caster.

nice sig line(hic)...my front caster is stock but i rotated my rear up 2 degrees to get rid of a vibration i had....so no its not stock in the back but either is having a soa set up.. having it roated up 2 degrees to get rid of a vibration is prob. a good thing..
