I recently added a Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform size 76x54 to my truck and thought it might be helpful to others in the market for a flat, low profile style rack to provide some feedback. I know a few a guys are running these on 100s as well but it never hurts to have more pics and info.

Having run a BajaRack on my previous 80 series I considered one again for the 100 along with the other big names like FrontRunner and Eezi-Awn's new K-9 rack. However I already had the Rhino 3 Bar system on the truck and had been very pleased with it so it was just a matter of pulling the 3 crossbars off and installing the Platform. I really like the fact that their products are modular and work well together.

Packaging: Great with no issues or damage to the rack. Several layers of plastic and foam wrap that reminded me of unpacking my ARB bumper. It should be noted that this platform can be ordered as assembled or unassembled. My unit was the assembled version and was shipped free via Amazon.

There are 2 size recommendations for the 100. 76x54 and 84x56. I had no need for the additional length or width as my RTT is slightly smaller than the 76x54 foot print of this platform.

What you get: Platform, 3 Crossbars, Hardware and nice set of instructions.
Disclaimer - I already had the foot kit on my truck but if you do not the feet will come with this as well.

Underside: The 3 cross bars attached at pre-drilled locations based on your specific vehicle per the instructions. I should mention that the pre-drilled locations are for a 100 series without the rear spoil so my rack does current contact the spoiler above the hatch. The instructions have a recommended measurement for new holes to be drilled to shift the rack forward and give clearance for the rear spoiler. I have not done this yet and it's really not that big of a deal since the hatch will still open 90% of the way before contacting the rack.

Topside: Nice textured black finish. I really like the slots in all the of the slats that can be used for tie downs and other Rhino accessories.

Mounting: Again, I already had the Rhino foot kit in place but for those that don't you'll need to order the complete Pioneer platform with the feet. The feet simply bolt in place in existing holes in the roof and then the rack slides into place from the side and is held in place with 6 twist lock bolts. It was nice that it was one man job and can be removed in about 10 mins by just unbolting the 6 twist lock bolts.

Finished Product: Once the rack is slid into place and centered it just a matter of tightening down the feet and adding some top plates that secure the slats together and your done!

Final Thoughts: Overall I'm very happy with the rack. It looks great, the fit and finish are spot on and the install was straight forward. The only minor complaint I have is I wish the holes would have been pre-drilled for US 100 series trucks with the spoiler just to save an extra step. Again that's a minor complaint and an easy fix.

Hopefully this will help some that maybe on the fence.

I know this is an older post, but thanks. I am seriously considering this setup. I have the factory rack now, and it is not strong enough for my needs. This looks the part. Thanks for posting the size you used. I like to see it on a rig before I go for it. MUD rocks!

Are you still happy with the rack after many months?

Can you just buy the rack? I already have Rhino Rack load bars so I have the feet.

Hello Steelman,

Does the pioneer rack comes with any plastic pieces? it seems the corners of the rack are not alloy but plastic.
