I'm looking for a clean Sienna ('04-'06-ish) for my wife to drive.:hillbilly:

Here are the things that I'm looking for:

-LE trim (Unless I can find an XLE that might have made its way into the US from another country with seating for 8).
-Seating for 8 (cloth)
-TRAV/VSC (traction/stability controls) with rear disc brakes
-Side curtain airbags for all three rows (Optional before '06 and standard thereafter on all trims)

I was gung-ho on getting the (dark) gray color (Phantom Gray Pearl for '04-'05 and Slate Metallic for '06-), but am starting to get not too picky as I really need to pick one up soon!

However, I still don't think I could go for the maroon, gold, or light blue... That might leave white, silver and navy (Probably leaving out some though!)

I prefer the headlights of the '06- models, but would also settle for the '04-'05 ones.

Navigation and DVD entertainment system would be a plus, but certainly not a must.

It would like it to have less than 100k miles and my absolute max (for '06) would be $15k (Preferably less though).

Yeah, I know I'm being pretty picky, but if you're gonna fork out the $$$$, might as well get something that you would be happy with, right? :hillbilly:

Anyway, I'd apprecaite it if you can give me a heads-up if you happen to know someone parting with one that meets the above criteria or comes across one!

THANKS!!

my wife's 05 has everything but the rear discs. I wouldn't sell it to you anyway bro, my daughters learned to drive in it....lol.

I wouldn't buy yours with Noah's cum stains all over the double deckered floor mats anyway. :flipoff2: ;)

I was planning on getting one with AWD, seating for eight, TRAC/VSC with rear discs and the side curtain airbags, until I found out that you cannot get AWD with the 8-seater. So I had to choose which one was more important...

I went and looked at four and test drove one yesterday (LE's) for the first time.

Call me a dork, but I prefer the front facia of the '06- better than the '04-'05 (The tail light difference doesn't really matter to me between those two types/models).

The door grab handles on the front seats/doors squeaked when they were twisted which kind of bothered me, but I guess that's the way that they were made/designed.

The rear a/c of the one that I test drove took FOREVER to blow cool air and even when it did it was not COLD.

It was supposedly Toyota "certified", but the detail job was very poor: With stains not only on the carpet, but on the various plastic parts throughout the van. Not to mention the left, rear-most cubby hole thingy's lid came off completely when listed (and stained badly). They did not even bother to vacuum (wet vac?) the carpet, and the left rear tail light had a small (but noticeable(sp)) crack.

And they had the nerve to try to sell me the $400-ish power-train warranty upto 100,000 miles on the vehicle which already had just about 80,000 miles anyway. :flipoff2:

When I asked the guy how much they were asking he said about $19k, but when the manager came out and I asked the same question, he said that it was $16.5, which was about $2-$2.5k over-priced IMO anyway.

When I pointed out the flaws the manager guy said that he could either take those things into consideration and reflect that on the price or I can take care of it myself... If that's how all of their "certified" vehicles are represented, I think I would rather pay (much) less and get a non-certified vehicle. I think if I were to sell a Toyota-certified vehicle, I would fix the obvious flaws and not just tell potential customers about the B.S. 160-point inspection that was done, etc...

The search continus.... Yeah, I know, what do I expect, right? I need to stop being so picky if I am buying a used car. I guess I kind of got used to the squeaky-cleaness of the vehicles sold in Japan, especially at dealerships. :hillbilly:

Hey Mot,

Where are you located? There's a teal '06 AWD at my work (Northern Cali) for sale with 77K on it. It has leather interior not cloth though. The pictures are not up yet, but I live 5 min. away if you are interested, I could go snap some pics for you. Let me know. The price might be too high, I don't know as I haven't priced them? Being an employee, there's a chance I could get a lower price for a friend.

Joshua,

Thanks for the heads-up and your generous offer! :crybaby:

Unfortunately, I am pretty set on having the 8-seat capacity at present... Or on all of the other options mentioned above.

"IF" you happen to stumble across another one that fits the bill and let me know about it, I would apprecaite that very much!

BTW, I'm in Utah, but am willing to fly out to pick one up since I love to drive and feel that it would be a good way to get acquainted with the vehicle.

THANKS AGAIN!!

Yeah, it's a long shot, I know! ;)

I might have to be willing to pay a bit more if I am unwilling to budge some of the things, or at least the color anyway!

Thanks again!!

-TRAV/VSC (traction/stability controls) with rear disc brakes

I am looking for the same thing for my wife. I want the LE as I dont care for the XLE options (leather, wood grain, 7 seating)

How can you tell if it has the stability control option? Is there a button to look for or another way to tell? Our corolla has a button on the dash, but I haven't been able to find any indicators on the vans.

Which ones get the rear disks? Everyone I have seen have the drums.

Best of luck (to both of us) finding the right one!

I think the only model that got the rear discs was the (XLE) Limited, at least for the '04-'07-ish ones anyway.

And I believe the TRAC/VSC came in the same package as the rear discs. So chances are if it came with one, it has the rest.

The "button", AFAIK is located below the steering wheel column, off to the right... kind of in front of your right knee. Also, when you turn on the ignition you should see the indicator light up briefly.

As I've found out that option is tough to come by, but probably a little easier as the 7-seater seems more common, as well as if you were to get the XLE or (standard?) on the Limited.

I see an '08 in the local ad for $17.4, but it is white (my 2nd favorite at present) and not sure if it has the TRAC/VSC with rear discs...

Yeah, no kidding, good luck to the both of us!

There is an 8-seater (cloth) LE that the owner says that it has that option, but he's been a bit less responsibe than I would have liked so far (Not very cooperative with disclosing vehicle info., pics, etc...) His price is cheap, but still...

Here it is...

Got a '09 with everything I wanted, but had to fly out to and drive back from Denver.

It's not perfect, but is close enough for me. ;)

I was told that TRAC/VSC became standard on all models (at leastin the Sienna) starting '08 models.

My new-to-me '09 has the "other" magic button (Not to be confused with the locker maigic button) :hillbilly:

Any progress???

Nice ride.

We're still rockin' the '04 XLE we've had since new.

It's a great car and can swallow up people and cargo like nothing else.

Funny-We got the XLE trim as that was the only way to get the rear disc brakes. Great minds think alike! Also has VSC,ABS blah, blah...

When the wife gets tired of it, I'm going to take it over as my DD. Should last 200k miles or more.

Repairs to date: Battery and lift gate recall.

Did I mention it's our second '04? My wife was hit at 50mph by an old man who ran a light. He bounced off her and hit and totalled a Camry as well in the other lane. Old man and one of the Camry passengers were hauled off to the hospital. Totaled the first Sienna at 7500 miles! It was a really hard hit head on with no brakes applied. Airbags all deployed. She was bruised up but basically unhurt. While the car was destroyed the passenger compartment was surprisingly intact. It was a real testament to the integrity of that thing, and we bought another within a week of totaling the first one.

Good luck with yours. Excellent vehicles.

Congratulations!

Still nothing at my end. Either the right van at the wrong price or the wrong van at the right price. I found one over the weekend that I though was the one, but the seller got cold feet and decided not to sell.

I actually drove an '08 Honda Odyssey, and was very impressed. It has now passed the Toyota as my first choice. It has all of the feature we were looking for on the Toyota as standard (stability control, rear disks, etc). Now I just need to find one....

Andrew,

THANKS!!

I did not go after the Sienna because of its safety (I was not aware of its high rating), but nevertheless I still wanted the curtain airbags for all three rows, as well asthe TRAC/VSC/rear discs.

Glad to hear a personal story of someone I know walking away from an accident unscathed because of its safety!

sdnative,

I guess the Odyssey has a smaller middle/2nd-row seat, just like the new Sienna does.

But I hear the new Odyssey has a bigger one, similar to the previous Sienna. Go figure!

Having a good size 2nd-row middle seat with ISOFIX/LATCH was important because that's where I wanted to put my 2 1/2 year old's child seat. I like it that it slides forward and back, as well. (Still allows either one of the other two 2nd-row seats to tumble and flip up for accessing the 3rd-row seats.

BTW, I'm already starting to think of how I can modify/improve its lighting! :hillbilly:
I'll have to do the "Satoshi" grille mod if I end up going this route!

Good luck with your search!

Just wanted to show you what I've done with the Sienna so far!

Put ScanGaugeII on.

I like it a lot!
I need to be careful not to stare at it for too long while driving! :hillbilly:

And I'll post the other mod that I've just completed next...
