I have seen multiple drop down sliders for ARB fridges, but all of them run front to back. Does anyone make a side to side drop down rack? My 60 is not long enough behind the seats to run the ARB 50 qt front to back.

Mace,

The back of a 60 is huge, at least 39 inches or more behind the back seats. A 50 ltr ARB is about 27" deep or long. The TemboTusk slide's foot print is 35" x 22"

Post a picture of what you are trying to do as I might be misunderstanding the issue you are trying to resolve. As an FYI, we do produce a "sideways" flat slide. The slide is only 18" deep or long and 28" wide.

As for building a "sideways" drop down slide; there are some engineering issue to over come. The drop down arms need be a certain length to drop the required distance of at least 11 to 12 inches. Building the slide sideways does not leave enough room front to back for the swing arms when the slide is in the closed or transit position.

1leglance: Thanks for thinking of us!

Yeah, a Normal 60's rear end is huge. Mine is not ;)
My 60 has been shortened by 16-in. And the fuel tank takes up a bit of room in the bed. So, the room I have for the ARB is limited. If I could have it drop down, it'd be handy..

I am looking to put a 50 Qt ARB sideways with a drop down. I'm kinda thinking that I'll have to build one myself. But a prefab one would be cool. But not expected.

My problem is that nothing I do is normal...

I think we actually chatted a bit at Pismo..

Like I said, I'm not exactly typical ;)

Nothing wrong with being a bit Atypical! Keeps the world interesting!

The sideways drop down slide has been on my back burner for a while, but as I said above, I have not worked out the kinks to make it work properly.

We also met a few years ago at a TLCA Glitter Gulch run.

I miss the gambol. it was a great small club run!

The blm kicked the permit fees up past what the club could afford.

Only to small organizations. We can still run the trails whenever we want.. Stupid.

Lol no appologies necessary. And I was calling the blm stupid and not you (just to clarify).

I'm going to start on ideas in the near future. I wondet if putting a full length hinge and allowing the slide mechanism to tilt would work.. Then having the actual fridge platform pivot.. Hmmm

The hinge idea might work if you don't mind tilting the fridge to use it. I have seen examples on the web.

Click on the link for a great example of tilting a fridge. They use an existing slide (preferably a TemboTusk slide!) and a simple hinge and retaining straps.

Thanks for the clarification!!! :p

Lol you're welcome ;)

With it being mounted sideways, I was thinking that the tray could actually pivot and keep everything flat. So two simple hinges..it may be too complicated that way tho.

You can buy extension slides with a built in lazy susan swivel. I used one for a TV when I built an entertainment center. You would need to add a locking pin or something to keep it from rotating when you didn't want it to.

Just the swivel rated at 1000#;
The Hardware Hut - Product #SHE-9549 - Shepherd 12" (305mm) Lazy Susan Swivel - 1000lb.(454kg) Load Rating - EACH

This one is rated at 200# and only rotates 30°
Slide Out Television Swivel with Platform 200lbs - 8190-BL

You might have to dig to find exactly what you want. Or use just the swivel mounted on a plate attached to the extensions.

Swivel is not exactly the problem, it's having the drop down slide keep the fridge level..
