Having trouble removing mine. I've gone through the search, and came across Slee's article on removing the side markers. It shows the top screw and then a locking pin on the bottom. Can't find this. Does the LX version side markers not have one, or what am I missing here.

TIA

It's samething with the LX I removed it couple times to worked on LED, you need to wiggle it ( back and forth - up and down ) carefull don't crack the bottom locking pin.If you can get them out apply some grease on the bottom pin.Yours probably rust, that's why can't get it out.

Hmm... I couldn't seem to find the pin. Do you look up from underneath the truck to find it, or do you get to it from the top side of the engine compartment?

Thanks,

Trust me there is no getting to the pin I tried, first time I tried this I removed the turn signal the grill and most of the headlight, frustrated because I could not get the headlight out without first removing the parking light and cursing Toyota for such a complicated parking bulb change I came in and asked here and learned all I had to do was pull the right way 3 hours ago.

The lower attach pin is just a friction push/pull clip. it has a bulbus tip that sits in a socket, after you remove the one screw at the top firmly pull straight forward and it will pop out in your hand, a little up down wiggle might help, do not wiggle laterally.

Can you see it now? ( The one with red arrow );)

Groovy. Thanks guys. Kind of what I was assuming it had to be, but I didn't want to keep pulling until I broke something, if that's not the way to do it.

Ha ha, I was cursing Toyota for this two nights ago, I had the grill off, battery box out, turn signal off and finally ended up just putting it back together at about midnight without replacing the bulb.

Once again, IH8MUD has the answer - I knew I could count on you guys!

That "pin" was totally frozen and unreachable in my 1999 lx470. Threre is no access to lube it. Twenty minutes of gentle persuasion up, down up down and it finally . . . Broke. So, on the other side, I went in through the wheel well and yanked off the plastic splash guard to reach the lamp. MUCH easier, and the mangled splash guard around the POS plastic grommet that used to attach it to the undercarriage doesn't show. Impressive engineering for a top of the line luxury SUV. Not. Bottom line: choose which POS plastic part you'd rather sacrifice, or just skip the job.

A bit of a difference, the '80 doesn't have a POS plastic splash guard!

Amen to that. I have an '80 that I love, but the LX470 is my daily driver and more cushy. It's also more of a PITA. My search for how to R&R the side marker light in LX470 boomeranged over here on a how-to video saying that it was the same as the 80 side marker light. It's not. So now, my left front marker light is held in place by the little screw inside the hood. I'll have to put some weather stripping or something in place to keep it from rattling. Oh well.
