Been trying to avoid any type of beef type products ever since.
You know, flash backs and stuff like that. Post Traumatic Syndrome I think you call it.;p

Made me wish I had some type of bull bar though.

Hears what you do: Instead of having the LC's damage payed for, have the farmer give you free steaks for life. ;)

You guys are totally insane!!! :D

My friend hit a cow on a highway running through and open range area and had to pay for the cow.

I believe that's usually how it works. Don't hit cows.

My (half)uncle is a rancher in Colorado and one of his cows got out and was hit by a car. The accident put the whole family in the hospital. My uncle felt bad for them and decided not to have them pay for the cow... until they tried to sue him. He turned it over to the insurance after that and they paid for the cow.

Really? Hmmm....i would think it would be opposite around here. Just because it is my understanding that if you have a dog, and it gets loose and gets hit by a car, any damage to he car the dog owner is responsible for.

It has to do with cows being property, and as far as I know it's only in Colorado. I don't know other state's laws regarding cows.

It a peculiarity of the 'Open Range' laws in the west back when there were more cows than people and ranchers had more political sway. I think that most of the inter-mountain west has or had similar laws.

Yeah, those plastic bumpers on the corners are crap. I ripped the other corner off the first time i went offroading on a mud wall. Coming back, a mud Pit took the rear one off.

Thats why i put a Kaymar bumper out back and a Ford Pickup Bumper up front. Steel wears better than plastic against mud and trees.

By the way, Down here, the law states that the owner of any loose animals that cause an accident on public roads must pay for all damage including wrongfull death claims if it occurs. The only hard part is proving the cow belongs to that person.

Later guys

squeezed by this tree at least 6 times safely. Got me this time. ;p
