Shock mounting pins/spring plates

Has anybody ever used a set of rear springplates on the front axle? I bought a set and now I've got a front DB axle that has had the shock pins cut off. I could go either way. Weld on new shock pins or use the springplates with the built in shock mounts.

Rear shocks are inboard of the frame.

Fronts are outboard.

Fabbing shock mounts for the front axle is not that big of a deal.

If you were to make a new frame attachment point for the top of the shock, I am sure you could make these plate affairs *work*....If you really wanted to...

Too easy to drill a 5/8" hole in a piece of 3/8" thick 1.5" wide flat stock and make a new shock mount on the axle...

Guess I'll just try to duplicate the OE shock mounts on the new axle. Sounds like a plan to me. Are the "pins" anything special? ie, the bolts that the shocks mount to on the axle?
BTW I have to make all new brake lines, since I'm going to a dual circuit master, using the non-boosted S-10 master, like in Mike Smythe's tech article. So...what should I use and can it be bent with a manual tube bender?
