Please, please, please use steel shims and not aluminum. The softer metal tends to distort and will allow the U-bolts to loosen, then damage the center pin and on and on.

Which axle are you shimming? What 4" lift? Reason I ask is that mine didn't involve any shimming.

front?...from what i read it may be required...i do not want to get this thing torn apart and not have the parts i need to put it back together...the springs are safari springs...why did you not need shimms?...what would cause some to need shims and some not?

A lot depends on the type of lift. Ultimately, it all depends on the angles of the output flanges on the pinions/transfer case in relation to one another. How the springs are arched and where they are drilled plays a large part in this as well. Does your kit include a shackle reversal?

no shackle reversal...should i include shackle reversal when installing a 4" lift?...did you install shackle reversal?....i will have to do somemore searching....

Chris has a shackle reversal on his with BDS springs. I did not do a SR on mine with the same springs and needed the shims.

There are pros and cons to doing a SR as with any other mod. Search tech and you'll get about very possible opinion.
