I have a new to me 2021 LX. The previous owner appears to have been a bit of a half ass DIY guy. He replaced the shift knob with aftermarket and in the process he broke the zip tie that holds the top of the leather boot to the silver ring that then clips into the shift knob. I assume I need to remove the shift boot in order to pull it inside out and replace the zip tie to hold the silver ring in place and keep the boot from slipping down and looking bad. I also ordered a new oem shift knob. The one the guy replaced it with is carbon fiber and looks out of place.
Anyway, has anyone removed the shift boot in order to reattach it to the silver ring that clips into the shift knob? I did it on my old BMW M3 but not sure how hard it will be on this car. Would love any tips or instructions before I just start taking things apart.
