Took some pics of my 4 runner to '95 LC mirror fix. Here they are. First pic shows the two fixtures, opened up to show the hard wired 4 runner motor, and the lugged LC motor. Note that both plastic housings are identical and the motors can be simply removed, and swapped between housings to retain the plug-in feature. Note also the brokwn off "wings" that allowed the mirror to vibrate. The pic was taken after the swap, so originally was reversed.
The third pic shows the LC wiring plugs installed into the 4 runner motor housinf. Note how the plugs fit exactly as on the LC housing. I also changed out the gears, since they had more lub on them than did the 4 runner gears. Next, the plastic plugs which fit into the back of the mirror are screwed onto the gears (pic 2). I don't think it matters how far they are screwed down, but I put them about 1/2 way. Note that they have a small bump on them (pic 1); it must face to match the slot on the back of the mirror (pic 3), (sorry for getting the order messed up) which means they face the center of the motor housing. Leave the bellows attached to the top of the housing, and when the top and bottom of the housing are put together, feed the plugs through the bellows. I tried attaching the bellows after assembling the two, and it didn't work.
Continuing: Screw the front and back together, feeding the screw on connector thruough the bellows. Then, place the motor housing against the back of the mirror, ensuring that the bump on the connector matches the slot on the hole of the mirror (pic 1). I then took my faithful long nose pliers, and snapped the two together. (Pic 2). Then, reattach the mirror to the housing with the small washer, and pin (pic 3). Done! A job! I had to try the wires several times to get the correct motion when I reconnected the mirror to the truck. Other than that, it works fine. Hope this helps somebody. Ned
I don't know which years of the 4runner fits. I think I got mine off a '94 or '95 but you will have to verify for yourself. At the local pick and pull you'll have to unscrew the mirror motor and look at it to determine whether it fits..Right hand and left hand are not interchangable Ned
