:) I have just purchased a 1998 sh LandCruiser. It needs a good mechanical check over. I will get fleeced if I go to a dealer. Are there any garages members can recommend in Melbourne that I take my vehicle to for its 160,000 service and to get it fully checked out?

If you want to go for a drive to Geelong I'm sure Darren at ats4x4 will look after you, I don't believe he will fleece you as much as a Toyota dealership, he is an active member of this board give him a call and tell him you are a MUD member

...even though you will inevitably make us feel bad about the limited availabilty of 100 axle and engine options in the US... :)

I assume thats Kilometers ? ;) (99,200 miles)

It will probably need a timing belt so expect to lay out a bit of money.

Ask the dealership what a check up will cost before determining it is too much. Also ask who knows the LC and specify them for the work. If you need any work, speicify them again. When you find a good mechanic, I have had excellent service and response when I designate the technician - service writers and techs know I have an interest in the job being done right.
