Hi Everyone – Now that it’s we’re in the cool month of September (well they used to be cooler) we’re back to our in-person OHV Trail Workdays. YEAH!!! This month’s workday is Saturday, the 16th from 9 am to 2 pm. We’ll meet at the Uwharrie Hunt Camp at 9 am and hopefully head out to Sawmill Trail around 9:30. We’ll be installing guardrails and post barricades on Sawmill Trail near the intersection with Slab Pile Trail. There are people driving behind the existing barricades on that hill so we’re closing it off the access points behind the barricades (hopefully). If you have vehicles and D rings, etc. that can be used to drag the guardrails please bring them. If you have trucks or vehicles that can haul the guardrail posts, please bring them too.
For the field work make sure you have closed toe shoes, pants, t-shirt and maybe some long sleeves, work gloves, food and water, lots of water.
I also want to give everyone a heads up that we’re working with Southern 4 Wheel Drive, Overlander, Miles and Missions and Tread Lightly on a Year of the Trail and Tread Lightly project and workday for October 21st. More details and a flyer will be coming out for that next week for that. We’ll focus more on installing Tread Lightly signs and seeding and mulching areas behind barricades that have been damages. We also have a lot of broken wooden fencing out there that we’ll work on at the November 18th workday. If your club or you as an individual haven’t signed up officially as a volunteer or volunteer group please fill out the attached forms and bring them to the workday.
Thanks a lot everyone. We appreciate your help. Bye - Terry
