Looking for some advice. I have to make my wheeler a 4 seater. Do I try and add some seats in the back or go with another 80 with lockers. The wife will not drive this but she will drive an 80 as an emergency vehicle if one of the two DD's break. I am torn as to what to do...If I sell it what would be a fair price? Its a 1967 FJ45 with a EFI350, 700R4, 4WDB,PS,Roll Cage, Bed Cage,LED Rock Lites, Lockrite Rear, Open Front Etc....Its not a show truck but a very capable trail rig. Let the flaming begin..........

I like that 45 the way it is, If you need a wheeler build an 80. My wife has an stock 80 and we take that thing every where. It has 33" tires and factory lockers and if I wanted to go more I can through a lift on it in a weekend.

If it was a very built 80 I might consider it. Thanks anyway Jason

That might be a good idea. I have a spare troopy fiberglass top with a rusty rain gutter in the garage. Do you have any pics of your top and how you did it.Jason

there's some in this thread... https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=157755

and there' s a link in there to a bunch more on photobucket.

rear end of the lid sits a tad high, but I'll fix that before it goes back on next year.

works pretty well, bed stays mostly dry. basically just drops onto the cage and is held there with a couple Ubolts.

looked better when I had the cargo net around the sides, but I can't find a pic of that, and the lid is presently a dog shelter out in the field....;p

Sweet 45!!! I think I will put the top on mine and see about getting some sides made. I can get a seat like Bull put in his troopy and put it in the back. Time to explore this option..

Modify

Your 45 is way too nice!!! You can get a 80 anytime. Do what-ever it takes to keep it. I am looking to install the same drive train in my 45. It now has a 67 350 w/ T350 Trans. How does the 700r4 perform. Any issues?

thanks!

and yeah, I really like the long lid,it might look a little odd, but it makes it seem like a totally different vehicle...almost makes it feel roomy..

I love the 700r4. It is too tight to shift thru the gears so I went with the auto and have not regreted it yet.

Back to the top question... Sell or Modify?
How much would you regret selling this rig and could you replace it if you wanted another? A seat could be built /modified to work in the back... So many options. 80's are much more common. I have watched many 'mudders buy-build-sell, buy-build-sell and I must conclude that the pursuit and the process is just as much a part of whatever it is that propels this hobby.
I watch with much admiration at what some are able to accomplish on this board but see a lot of energy and resources put into "dream rigs" and then they are sold before long.
Very nice rig, looks good enough for any show I'd be interested in!

KEEP IT and modify it. That truck is bad ass. I have a beautifully built up FJ45 as well, and my wife and I we're just talking about the same situation. We have two young ones, and where are we going to put them?
I won't sell mine, so, I'll be modifuing mine too, in the future.

Thanks for the replies. I will look into the back seat option. Bull where did you get your Troopy back seat?

Why/When/How would two DD's break both at the same time?

Not flaming you, but the situation as presented doesn't make any sense.
