Although I have owned 4wheel drive vehicles all my life beginning with an Willys MB I learned to drive in, this is my first Land Cruiser. Since moving here to Okinawa over a year ago have coveted many of the Land Cruisers I have seen on island and there are a lot of them as you might imagine. Up until last week I have been driving a nice 96 Hilux Surf that was modded by someone else. My son who owns a couple of car lots called me last week with a 92 Prado EX he just acquired (that wasn’t black) from the original owner for a song. Except for the tires it’s all original including an electric factory winch, it has the smaller 2400cc engine but that’s fine for me. It has no body damage and very little rust areas which is surprising given the age and being here on island all its life.
Thank you for allowing my membership and I hope to be a sponge and soak up as much knowledge and experience that the members of this forum surely have during my restoration process. You would think living here in Okinawa/Japan you would have access to all of the parts you might need but as I am quickly finding out when any of these Land Cruises end there life on the road the get parted out and the parts don’t stay here on island. They end up in all around the world.
