School me in basic carbs 101

ok I have an 18r-c 72 toyota hilux 2wd truck when cold the choke seems to work ok but when warm truck dies.
manuel said choke must be open when warm but then truck dies.
so what exactly does the fast idle, mixture, and idle screw do?
looks like the throttle position screwand link may need help to.
and im sure cleaning it would help. How do you start from scratch or zero set it?

If you look at the manual, you get a very good idea of what those circuits do and the flow of the circuits.

The condition you speak of is fairly common on carbs that have a failed circuit.

Could be as simple as a cleaning; could be as complex as a rebuild.
