I have been eyeing a particular 1984 Ext. Cab 22r 4x4 for a while up.

I finally went up to the guy (whom I'd never met) and asked if he was interested in selling his truck . I offered him $1500 and he took $1750 for it. Is that right??? I have no clue and he didn't either.

The Deal::
250K + slight motor work done in the past.
His Daily Driver
Slight body rust on side of bed.
Frame and under body is perfect.
Not wheeled.
Stock Everything, tires suspension etc.

Good:
He has maintained drive train well for past 11 years.
The Oil looked very clean.
Good tires.
Drove well.

Bad:
Original Radiator, therfore gets a littel too warn for comfort, but doesn't overheat. (Price for a new one?)

Spraying oil a bit from the timing chain cover. (How hard too fix is that? $$ ?)
Needs a new window in the back, and could use a new windshield. (Slight Running Crack)

We haven't closed the deal as he was never planning on selling it and has lost the title.
Should I close it?

Whats the MPG going to be like? Its got be better than the 80!

Well whether the price was right or not you got it now lol. I'd take the valve cover off and see if you need to do the t-chain, but chances are whoever did it last didn't get it sealed up right if it's leaking there. Sounds like a decent find, after all it is a Toyota.

That's not a bad price for that truck. I paid $2200 for my 4Runner and it was in need of an engine rebuild. But, it was rust free and fuel injected. I haven't look back since getting it.

that's a good find. i got my 84 pickup reg. cab for 2500. wasn't wheeled, bed rust, 178K miles on the 22R and the next summer i had to replace the water pump and a clean out a wheel cylinder. my dad drove it 60 miles every day to ft worth and back for about a month or 2 because his Fj80 was in need of repair and he wanted to watch me do the repairing. i love my truck it drives great and gets decent mileage. it used to get 20 -21 but when i put in a ceramic clutch, it went down to 17.

Prices for used Toys are a lot higher in the PNW, you got a good deal. Here in the mid-Atlantic area it would have gone for $500-600.

Do pull the valve cover and check for slack in the timing chain as suggested. Even take a flash light and try to see if the guides are broken or not.

If you really do need a radiator...Like $110 from Radiatorbarn dot com.

You will like the truck, vg wheeler even stock. Throw on 31" Mudders and they go good.
