Nothing feels better than smackin down your cash and then getting the news that you bought the wrong thing......

I ran a Holley for a month back in 1991...screamer on the road, not so much offroad. WAY before the "offroadable" carbs were common. Switched to a Carter AFB and learn a lot of tricks for those (see the tech links)....then q-jet from a junkyard, $30 rebuild kit and rebushed the primaries in the baseplate....ran that until this past winter when the TBI went in.

I like fuel injection :D

Woody-so you liked the q-jet for the most part? Did you do anything special to it or just run it as is?

I'm about to swap in a 350 in mine and its going to have a carb. When I had the asian working on the 1F it was awsome but when I had to switch to the weber, it sputtered and stalled at angles. Don't want to have to go through that mess again.

I'm not Woody but I am running a Q-jet on a 350 SBC with much success. I got my Q-jet and the intake manifold from a '79 Blazer. It was full of gunk and the gaskets and such were dried out and shrunken. It looked terrible. I purchased a kit and rebuilt the carb by the book to the factory chev specs. I never dreamed it would run this good. My friends and I all run the 350 and have been trying every type of carb on each others motors and this one is even outperforming other Q-jets. We don't know why it works so good but they are so sold on it enough that they are looking for the same model. I think it's the best you can get short of injection.
