I've just got handed a 92 2wd extended cab 22RE 5spd truck for free to save it from going to the junk yard.
Back ground on the truck. It's been on my step mom's side of the family since 94. Passed between a few of my step sisters till it ending up and my Dad and step mom's lake house about 5 years ago. Tree fell on it and their boat and put a dent in the roof.
It then went to my step sisters house about 2 1/2 years ago because my brother in law has a 92 4wd model and wanted the bed and interior out of it.
It is now in my garage to use as a daily driver as I build up my Land Cruiser more.
The interior is intact (swapped from the 4wd model) and the bed is there just needs to be repainted.
I just drained the gas tank and refilled it and added some HEET and octane booster at the same time. Will crank fine and start for a few seconds with starter fluid. It had a full tune up just before it last started (5+ years ago) and just yesterday I changed the fuel filter (wtf were they thinking in that location) and the plugs (lots of corrosion on the old one.
Any other tips for resurrecting an old dog as this is my first 22RE.
Still won't start next up on the block is checking and replacing all vacuum lines.
P.S. eventually it will be converted to 4wd
and a hardcore wheeler when I am done with school and get a different daily driver.
