I've just got handed a 92 2wd extended cab 22RE 5spd truck for free to save it from going to the junk yard.
Back ground on the truck. It's been on my step mom's side of the family since 94. Passed between a few of my step sisters till it ending up and my Dad and step mom's lake house about 5 years ago. Tree fell on it and their boat and put a dent in the roof.
It then went to my step sisters house about 2 1/2 years ago because my brother in law has a 92 4wd model and wanted the bed and interior out of it.
It is now in my garage to use as a daily driver as I build up my Land Cruiser more.
The interior is intact (swapped from the 4wd model) and the bed is there just needs to be repainted.
I just drained the gas tank and refilled it and added some HEET and octane booster at the same time. Will crank fine and start for a few seconds with starter fluid. It had a full tune up just before it last started (5+ years ago) and just yesterday I changed the fuel filter (wtf were they thinking in that location) and the plugs (lots of corrosion on the old one.
Any other tips for resurrecting an old dog as this is my first 22RE.
Still won't start next up on the block is checking and replacing all vacuum lines.

P.S. eventually it will be converted to 4wd

and a hardcore wheeler when I am done with school and get a different daily driver.

If it will run on starting fluid it's not electriclal.
Fuel pump maybe?
Unplug the coil, crack the line on the filter and have someone turn it over to see if you have fuel pressure.

I believe there is a fuel pump fuse or relay as well to check as well.

Well when the weekend comes around i'll have time to mess with it again. (up for this weekend hook up my tester and see if it is getting any fuel to the injectors, if it is swap out the injectors with a buddies spare set, pound out the dent in the roof)

no
we got a bunch of snow, so i've been wheeling and pulling people out of ditches with the cruiser all day.

Due to the fact that I am still working 50 hours a week and going to school full time, it occured to me that it'll be a year till I get anywork done on this. So i'm going to take out the engine, tranny and some other parts. Anyone need a 22RE with 157k on it??
