Well, I've been super swamped with finals and work and what not... I still can't get her to fire... Starter motor good... New plugs... Coil good... But still no fire... I have the number to a Toyota master mechanic that works at the BIG Toyota dealer in town.. And he does work for people on the side and tries to cut em a deal... So I'm gonna call him today and see if I can't get him out... I am not gonna be driving this by the 25th... Unless a miracle happens... So maybe until then I will start on some of the cosmetics... I have to figure out some s*** today.... I really have no idea what the problem is....

ok, so I'm in a better mood now... Finals were kicking my ass and I was kind of in a bad mood.. I am kind of on a real hard budget... and just as I am typing this a guy is asking about buying my fj62... as much as I want to keep her.. it would totally lighten the load on me if I had an extra $7k-$8k in my pocket... I just have to decide really....

Have you compared what he is willing to pay to what 62s are going for on mud?

If you could get 7 you could easily pick up a running relatively reliable vehicle for less than 2k. Then you have a vehicle to drive while you work on the 40 and plenty of cash for the project....

Hope your finals went well.

No, but she will be going to into MUCH more capable hands than mine on the 29th.. The master mechanic from the local toyota dealership is going to take her and fix her for me... I've still got one final on Wednesday, but I just bout a stock carb to get rid of the weber I have and I'm going to buy some sheet metal to replace in the floor plan...

QUICK QUESTION....
If I got my hands on some stock 79 RHD 60/40 bench seats, would they bolt in to mine flipped around? I realize the issue would probably lie in the mechanism for leaning the seats back... Has anyone tried this I searched but to no avail...I found a good deal on a set... And no offense zack, but those seats are just an eye sore!! Lol comfortable... But not visualy pleasing... Once it runs... I'll get to driving her real good ;) still haven't named her yet... Do you wish for her to keep her name Zack?

Any ideas on the RHD seats in a lhd??

I thought you liked the weber?

Name is completely up to you. Good luck getting her going.

Well I do... But I want to get her back stock... The weber might go back on later... But I think it will be easier to figure out whats running and what's not with the stock carb... Haha and it's easier to find parts for them around here...WHERE NO ONE SELLS WEBER!!!! Literally not a single person in my town sells anything weber!

The 40 is in the shop now, she just got a set of new seats from a RHD 40... Got rid of the old seats.. Everything fit pretty well except had to take the old plastic covers off the lean back handles!! I'm hoping within the week she is back to normal!!! Then it's a soft top and maybe a front bumper/winch...I need to get someone to make me a roof rack like the $0R one.... And I have just the person in mind!! I found a guy that'll help me cut out all the rust and I'm going to rhino line it and then zack I'm coming to pick you up for a ride ;) I added a picture of the seats!

And btw zack, did you know the hard top wasn't the right year? I'm going to end up selling it.. It's a pre 76 and that's why the doors and all don't line up! But I got a sweet deal on a tiger top and half doors w/ the uppers... Once she gets out of the shop we'll see!!

And if I came home to my dad and told him I was buying ANOTHER land cruiser... I'm pretty sure I would get beat!! Lol it took some serious begging for him to let me buy the 40 that I knew didn't run at all!!! Haha but I will say I got a good deal on it ;)

Well guys, June has been a better month for me and the 40! She has been in the shop for a little over a couple of weeks now... and SHE RUNS!!!! A few long days helping the mechanic and it turns out she has a bad fuel pump! Jtoutfitters had one for my make and model and I snagged it ;) It'll be here on monday! and last week I finally got around to putting the soft top on! I'll post some pics of what she looks like below!

I have a sinking feeling my troubles are not over, but the engine sounds great (starting with the carb pouring gas in directly) and he said all compression numbers check out, All he did was set the timing and fine tune everything! I guess we'll wait and see when the fuel pump goes in here sometime this week, if she has BIGGER problems than what meets the eye! She looks pretty darn good the way she sits, and if anyone is looking for a pair of hard doors I have some now I'll be looking to get rid of!!

As long as everything checks out with the engine this week, I'll be pouring on the bling here pretty soon ;) sliders and a winch maybe a stinger from metal tech!!!

I am glad to hear she is running!

Have you thought about doing anything with the suspension?

Not entirely..... I thought about a 4 inch safari lift from man a fre but that would be the only thing I could do to it if I did that.... I will however replace the rear frame plate and spring hangers before the ones on it snap and send leaf springs through the bed of my 40 haha

And yes it is a new tailgate! It's a little heavier gauge than the black one that you had on there and it already had the holes for the soft top snaps drilled in it so it was easier just to put it on!! Lol I may be painting her tan next week but I really want to think on the color so I don't regret it ;)

Tan was my second choice, and probably a better color for a 40. I just love green.

MAF is expensive, check out Hell Creek, I had one of their 6" kits on a grand wagoner. a good kit at a great price.

once you can start driving we will have to put together a DLC meeting.
