I posted over on Yotatech too, but here goes...
I am usually over in the 95+ section since I have a T100, but I recently picked up a 1990 regular cab 2WD pickup as a project. It needed (and still needs) a lot of work, but there is one thing that has me stumped.
The truck was lowered when i got it...blocks in the rear and what I thought was de-cranked torsion bars. After getting new adjusting bolts for the torsion bars, and cranking them up, it was still on the front bumpstops.
I then realized there were spacers on the front upper and lower ball joints. Oops. They were caked in mud and grime...no wonder I didn;t see them. "Success" I thought. Took them off, and I even pulled one t-bar to ensure it was aligned correctly (toothless splines matched up with the tick marks on the anchor arm and torque arm).
Well, after pulling the spacers, ensuring the t-bars were correctly aligned, and adjusting the t-bar bolt almost all the way to the bottom threads...Bam...still on the bumpstops!
Are my torsion bars goners from being on a lowered truck? Any suggestions? Any help is appreciated.
Pics of the truck when it was still lowered at all four corners:
