Sad News - no Ramble this year

I don't think we should have a raffle. Who is the money going to? If we have something to raffle off then the money should go to a charity. We could have the raffle on friday night and have a big party with the money on Sat night! Yeah, that's the ticket!

I was kinda thinkin that could be a Thursday nite kinda thing. Seems like more and more folks are showing up on the Thursday evening and I would like to have something each evening to pull folks together for the fellowship and camaraderie (the best part if you ask me). I am, however, open to suggestion as I have never organized one of these before.

Saturday night meal (if it can be done with minimal effort and organization)

being a NON event, it doesn't need to be to much work for anybody, show up, drink, wheel, drink, eat, wheel and go home.

Actually, I think arranging the raffle is probably one of the most difficult and time consuming parts of getting one of these things off the ground. I really don't want to go there. I do like the door prize thing though. It doesn't have to be much. Just a few supporters (some have already contacted me and offered to help - many thanks to them) willing to throw out a few door prizes keeps the spirit of the whole thing without all the effort. We're not trying to raise money here or even support a particular club. In a perfect world we would just cover our expenses for the meals, etc and no more. Anything over that needs to go somewhere we can all feel good about. I just suggested the WTOE as I know they busted thier bank on a recent charity drive and could use a little help getting the ball rolling again but I am open to any other suggestions you may have.

Next item ; I have contacted a small local (emphasize small and local) musical group about joining us one night. Country classics would be the best description I could give. If they are available (not working their day jobs) they might be willing to come up and join us. No cost to us but I was considering offering to pay for their hotel rooms for the one night. These are the kind of folks that would welcome the musically inclined among us to pull up a chair and join in. What do you folks think - worth it?

This will work to - and takes some of the stress off Sherry and I to get two full meals planned. I guess it all depends on how many folks want to participate. I was originally thinking 20-30 rigs, 50ish people and that wouldn't be too hard. I think we are already close to that number and haven't even started yet. If it grows much from that then the Fri. pot luck and Sat meal would probably be the way to go.

It's already on our schedule and we already got half the friggin' RV section reserved ... so we go.

Pay the park to camp ... pay the park to wheel ... just like a bunch of us did last year anyways.

I would recommend we steer clear of tryin' to organize much of anythang Folks ... bring your own beer, bring your own food ... just another club run.

We've never, EVER all gotten together and NOT had a large time ...

I did have an response from the RLC leadership. They are discussing their position and promise to get back to me soon. I don't want to use Razorback or Ramble without their full approval.
