I have always liked the S-biners, but I just had to have the new model. They added a beer bottle opener!

cute idea but you'd want to make sure the rope is on the better side of the center bumps if you're gonna use those for the (incidental) tiedown purpose

Why is that?

I don't really think these are meant to hold any weight, I mean sure you could use them to attach things to your backpack but I wouldn't use them to tie anything to my roof rack or any sort of hammock set up, maybe a rain fly.. but nothing else!

Of course they are not designed to hold real loads like a carabiner. But they do just fine securing lighter loads to all sorts of stuff..

i really like nite ize and have several products, the figure 9's are plain awesome.

i bought a couple of the s biners for me and a buddy several months ago,, we use them as a keychain to clip on our belt loops, they have been up to the task w/o flaw and open bottles nicely.

I've seen this and the nite-ize ones, isn't there also an S one that is a light-duty clip only on one side and a bottle opener on the other? However, the door latch on the door jamb of our LC's (and many other Toyota trucks) works just as well...you can carry more stuff with it, too.
