After years of experience chasing rust grinding , blasting , cutting and patching on my Landcruisers I am facing the same problem with the truck I picked up for my son this week.

What do you guys do to fix this one...is there patch sections for the floor pan wheel well like we have in the cruiser world or am I faced with forming some 18 gauge and welding it in place.

I am not interested in searching for a scrapped truck or parts truck and salvaging the section needed since I will probably find more needing repair than good.

The other problem I am seeing after inspection is the support braket mount I am sure the rust goes past that point so I have to cut beyond and reweld to the support piece.

Please link me to what you have done to fix this , oh by the way that is the carpet backing in the picture , the rains have arrived so I need to fix ASAP.

i'd cut and weld, but since you don't want to do that, i can refer to an old runner i bought years ago, when i went to "compress" the front inner fenders i found that a po had covered the old rust with fiberglass (i'm sure that they just used the kind of kit that you get at napa or true value, or whatever you've got up north). it was ghetto, but i didn't notice it for the first couple years of ownership, as they had also repainted (and the job wasn't half bad). the glass on my runner stood up to a couple nasty winters in the rocky mtns., in a wheel well always caked in ice, and never failed
this would keep your rain out, add structure to the floor of the truck. it's not the right way, but it's easy, and works.
