This Thursday 11/13, with the support of Anza Borrego Desert State Park, four BNT club members headed up Fish Creek Wash with the intention of tagging target areas all the way up to Split Rock, then return back down to resolve the target areas of Fish Creek Wash, Dave McCain Springs Road, Olla Wash trail (Mud Palisades), Sandstone Canyon, and the Loop Wash bypass of Fish Creek Wash. We were out there for 7 hours, returning in darkness.

We accomplished most of what we set out to do. But due to oncoming darkness, we had to skip Sandstone Canyon and the Loop Wash adjacent to Fish Creek Wash, and also a few fire rings on Fish Creek Wash near the eastern end as you head back to Split Mountain Rd. It was too dark on the way back to get those resolved.

We logged ~30 target areas (27 fire rings, downed trail barriers/signs), and the established camp area closest to Split Mountain Rd. The worst area with the most illegal fire rings was Olla Wash.

In total, we removed 24 illegal fire rings. There are three others that we need to return to address. There are also a few other issues with broken glass and more human waste, and a stashed wash tub fire pit that warrants a return. Need more equipment to sift glass from the sand. Could use a truck to haul out the wash tub fire pit and fire wood.

We bagged a lot of trash, fire pit charcoal, human and dog waste, toilet paper, glass, and shell casings.

Including before/after pics of a fire ring at Dave McCain Springs Rd.

Thanks to @Overlandeffex, @KTP, @MTN RNR, and Pablo Espinosa of Anza Borrego Desert State Park for their help in making this possible.

I should have more time after 12/17. Hope to make one of these.
