imho, mapping without colour would be a major step back in what we expect from modern topo maps and google earth imagery data.

I put in for one of these, makes a great backup device due to its low power consumption and the added features are kinda cool. I'm not expecting much for the radio portion because you can only do so much with a limited footprint for antenna's. The mapping without color isn't such a big drawback compared to a handheld Color GPS system with limited battery life if you are hiking.

I'll let you all know how it works out when it comes in July? August...
 
Colour GPS units (garmin etrex etc) that are handheld run you into the 20 hour range. The etrex takes conventional AA batteries (2) to extend another 20 hours versus some proprietary li-ion pack.

Anyhow, good luck on your unit arrived soon and performing as expected.

It looks nteresting...and it's a price I can swallow...but want to see how initial production goes before I consider one over my ipad3
