Solo yes, but I would like to have options depending on the type of trip.
The RTT gives more room for two and dogs below.

I forgot ask about - INSURANCE - does the vehicle collision insurance cover it or does it need 'extra coverage'?

You might have to ask your insurance contact for that one. It is bolted to the vehicle but it is an aftermarket addon. So it likely is covered up to a certain amount. Same as stereo equipment, or any other after market electronic add on (as long as it is bolted to the vehicle) up to $1000 regardless of how much it cost you. That's from ICBC, the last time I dealt with them (recent break in).

When it comes time I will go with private collision insurance (Family Insurance - i think?) ) so I will post what their "add-on" coverage is - likely better. Private deductible on windshields is lower that corrupt ICBC monopoly.

One thing to add: if it's a knockoff RTT with a cheapo plastic zipper, avoid. My old top quality Howling Moon RTT's metal zippers worked great every time, but my chino special has lost quite a few teeth over the last 2 seasons. Neither of them affected my gas mileage at all when they were on my trailer.
