RTT game changers?

^ All things ladders and Autohome are a joke. Let's see ... the place Autohome recommends to store the ladder, is in the RTT. But wait: The ladder is needed to get to the ... ladder stored in the RTT. 50+ years of design work and this is the best they can do? Right.

A little self deploying awning would be nice when its sprinkling/raining. Oh wait, its not supposed to rain when using it for camping.

A place for dirty footwear to store on the outside of the RTT. Oh yeah, shoes/boots aren't supposed to get dirty when camping.

Bug screens that velcro into place ... from the inside? WTF is that all about?! Fabric so stiff it rattles in anything more than a slight breeze? Chain drive system without anti-derail mechanism (about a $2 fix) on the sprockets? Yes it happened to my then Maggiolina and it was a RPITA to fix.

I'll agree on the quality of fiberglass though... they did get that right.

So these are just a few of the reasons I think there is plenty of space for innovation and real solutions for real campers.

my autohome is ancient, but even it has zipped screens. it does have a velcro lower cloth panel to close against the "door" to seal it that isn't even close to wide enough and the velcro is too narrow to hold the cloth????

as for the ladder, i have no issues reaching it and i'm 5'2"....the quality of the ladder however is severely lacking.

i use mine in all kinds of harsh weather including massive downpours, high winds, and snow with no issues at all with leakage and it's a heck of a lot quieter than my friends foldover tents, but i agree that a little awning would be nice and i'm going to add a shelf for my shoes since there is no storage outside of their little cloth clip on pockets that don't stay in place and really don't fit much.

i have already had to fix my chain once (due to severe neglect) and will have to do it again...getting everything synched back up sucks.

i agree with corbet that it sucks that it takes up the entire roof and not having the overhang, but i can't do any fold overs due to my lack of height, so i'm interested in anything that can be deployed from the tailgate.

i like the look of the ikamper. if it deployed in a way a 5'2" person with a rig on 35"s could work it, i think it could be very interesting.

the other one, i agree with whomever said it looked like it would get destroyed in a high wind. i camp in wyoming sometimes, and i've seen that destroy and eezi-awn, so no way would i trust that thing hold up with that hard side. you'd have to be very conscientious of how you parked against the wind.
