on a road trip. intermittent and LOUD squeaky groan from front hub area.... spindle bushing? I pulled drive flange and noticed drivers side shaft is sloppier inside the spindle than the passenger.... tightened bearings a little and back on the road....

If this s***s the bed completely are we talking the wheel coming off at 60mph or will I get advance notice of that?

No, the wheel won't come off. The worst is the axle shaft on the Birfield breaks off and you will lose your motivational power until you then remove the drive flange, the front drive shaft, and lock the CDL in order to continue driving.

So, throw in a few tools and a roll or two of duct tape and you're good to go until it fails!

Oh this ain't my first rodeo.... lol pulled the ds last night at midnight.... reset bearings this morning and shot a tube of grease in the knuckle... Been good for the last 50 mi...

Crazy part is I have 2 spare axles at the house, which is 600 miles away lol

Good call on pulling flanges. Was debating pulling shaft, but that would be much easier

The duct tape is to tape over the openings to keep the grease in and the dirt out during the final push home.

With the drive flanges on, the front end is still turning.
