Pardon my 4wheel ignorance. Was out testing crawl control and came to get back in H4. Initially tried to get into h4 while stopped but transmission in D.

It started flashing 4lo and beeping at me until I went back into L4.

I then tried in neutral, and the beeping stopped But I still have Trac off light, 4 lo light flashing, and the ABS light on.

No lights before. I just tested my CDL out 4 minutes prior and it engaged fine. Any thoughts?

Can I drive home at 50mph with flashing 4 lo

It's well documented on here. Let warm up for 20 min, turn it off and turn it back on. Most of the time it will return to normal. Otherwise you will need to look at your actuator.

Oh wait, no CDL light....sorry just noticed.

Just 4lo, trac off and ABS.

There are no CDL or Check engine lights present; which seem to be all of the threads I found using the search.

Does backing up and/or moving forward a few times while turning not help? Something has to be done to allow the mechanical system to disengage/engage.

Is it still in 4lo? If so, I would not try to drive at 50MPH home. If it is still in 4lo, make sure you are in neutral and set the switch back to 4lo. (I think you've already done this as you got the beeping to stop). Put car in park and shut off. Start truck back up, shift to neutral, select H4 and wait for lights to go off. If it doesn't work, this off and on should eventually shift you back to H4. Your system just sounds out of sync.

Put it in park, turned off and on once or twice (can’t recall exactly) and all lights disappeared.

Thanks! Would you be afraid to use it again? Or was this just some random glitch?

I hear that works for the CDL, but that was not what I was experiencing.

I think you’re right, I turned it off and on a couple times and it’s gone now

I have found doing this with the transmission shift lever in Neutral also clears the blinking CDL/4lo lights without you having to wear out your starter an unknown amount of times in your attempt to clear.

Random glitch from you trying to shift out of 4lo in Drive. You'll be fine to use it again

We have an old saying that when you borrow someone’s small engine, lawnmower, chainsaw, generator, that you have to hold your mouth just right to get them to operate correctly. It has been my experience that with 4lo you have to hold your mouth just right. Turn on 4lo, start truck in park, turn off truck and put it in neutral and start truck, turn truck off and restart then put it in 4hi, turn truck off and restart and then shift into 4lo. Works every time. Lol

Not a glitch. Operator error. You threw the system out of sync when you tried to switch from 4lo to 4h in drive. Glad it sorted out for you. Just remember to shift to neutral first THEN change transfer case switch and youll be fine.

Thanks 911! I know how to operate my 991 much better than my cruiser. Now I know :)
