My LX has always idled a little rough, and lately my plug coils have been going out one by one. In the past 6 months 3 coils have failed. Has anyone experienced this before? In addition what can be done other than changing plugs and coils to smoothen out a rough idle. Has anyone heard of cleaning the mass air flow sensor, or anything else of the sort?

You can try looking at your MASS air, But IMO I doubt it’s dirty, unless you are using a non OEM filter- especially K&N.

I thinking your coil packs are grounding out & not allowing a full spark to be achieved.
Question; Have you had your car detailed or steamed cleaned?
I ask this because water or something could be forced into the sparkplug well.

On my VR4 Galant, there’s a seal that will start to fail and allow oil to get in the spark plug well, causing it to break down the plug wire.
I haven’t had my plugs out so don’t know what it looks like on the LC.
But that’s what I would start with. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply DMX. When I removed the coils they were clean, dry, and in good visible condition. However, I did notice that when I turned the key to the auxiliary position the engine had a little current running though it, it would give me a steady shock. I figured this was caused by the grounding of the battery into the engine. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think I could have an improper ground?

I don’t think you should have any signal in auxiliary, only in the run position.
What you are describing sounds like you are getting a stray single, or a relay isn’t opening. I would trace back upstream to the connection that tells the coil to fire & unplug the connector and see if it is clean.
Perhaps your problem is that control module.
You can check your ground from your battery to engine block, but doubt that’s it.
Is your engine all clean and shiny (detail shop stuff) or has it been power washed that you know of?
